A Tree A tree I liked was felled one day, And now I miss it every day. All the day, all through the night, I keep thinking about its plight. It was a giant of a tree, With broad and glossy dark green leaves, A friend it was to all of us, We liked and loved it very much A squirrel used to live on that tree And kept jumping about in glee. And there lived a very noisy crow, Which was a nuisance, I know. One fine day as dawn broke, Hearing a buzz, up I woke When I rushed out in alarm, My friend, the tree, had been cut down.
