| Ghost in Sonajhuri |
Once, on a full moon night we went to Sonajhuri. The place was calm and far away from the town. There was a forest. As the night advanced, the surroundings became quiet. The forest was full of trees. The colour of the trees became silvery. The call of foxes and owls could he heard. We were in a mysterious place full of silence. Suddenly, we heard a humming sound. My father told us to be silent. The sound was constantly increasing. We were frightened. My father went to discover the source of the sound and we all followed him with fear.
We reached the bank of a stream and the sound was coming from the other side of it. There were tall dark trees. We saw some shadows moving like fire balls. My sister and me thought that there was a ghost and we ran to our mother. My sister was yet to very and my mother was trembling with fear. Suddenly few bats came to the trees and the humming sound stopped. My father was looking at the trees trying to find out what made the sound. After a few seconds, we heard the sound of crows and other birds from the branches of the trees and saw a few large birds flying away. I soon realised they were vultures.
My father laughed loudly. We asked him why he did so. He told us that the humming sound was the cry of baby vultures and the fire balls were the eyes of the crows. At night, as light falls on the eyes of the crows, they look like fire balls. We all laughed at our fear of ghosts. There is no ghost, it is only a myth.
